Mhesh who never speaks in Senate has a dramatic life: fighting in night clubs, threatening lovers to recent gun drama with a woman…

Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip seems to have a troubled life with women: He was recently released after cooling porridge in a police cell in Nanyuki where he was accused of shooting and injuring a woman, Joy Makena who was coming to the aid of another woman whom the Senator was attacking with a mop stick in the dead of night.

Anwar was previously married to ex-Nairobi Governor’s daughter, Saumu Mbuvi, and before her was police woman Sophie Mohamed. “It’s too late for those who have been drooling over me,” said Anwar at the time. “I am taken and have been dating Sophie for three years now. She is all I wanted in a woman, in fact, I cannot choose another woman over her. But in 2017 the yellow-yellow cop dumped the Senator and warned all women to keep off him!

But in came Hanifa Were, whom Anwar met on Facebook while shopping for a wife. They lived together after dating for less than a week, characterized by hard drinks and puffing at joints flown in from Ethiopia.

Waking nightmare, source of stress, embarrassment and regret

Loves labour lost: Saumu Mbuvi moved in with Senator Anwar a month after Hanifa’s butt was kicked to the pavement. Saumu took to social media to defend their love in between flooding images of her pregnancy on social media. The couple shortly made ex-Governor Sonko a grandfather. But they later separated over myriad domestic tiffs.
The child with Anwar was Saumu’s second, the first being from a previous relationship with businessman Benson Gatu-who moved on and began dating Rachel Wanja, another daughter of a governor from Central Kenya!

“It was long since I last dated” recalled the now 41 year old Hanifa, but there was a problem: Hanifa was not only older, she also had a 15 year old daughter, and yearned to settled down and get another baby with Anwar who was not for the idea.

Hanifa would shortly turn into a waking nightmare, source of stress, embarrassment and regret for Anwar. She not only accused Anwar of threatening her life after dumping her in May, 2019, but also claimed their fling resulted in pregnancy.

Anwar left Hanifa and by that June was dating Saumu Mbuvi. He later explained that their fling was short due to their age difference. Anwar cut communications with Hanifa who began pestering Saumu on social media pissing Anwar who by then had made Saumu pregnant.

Anwar termed the pregnancy claims as ridiculous arguing “why is she suddenly pregnant six months after we met?” “I am a married man now and she can’t come to ruin my family, insulting my wife on social media.”

Anwar danced for me Tetema as he did to all his other girlfriends

Hit & Run: Hanifa Were lived with Anwar for less than a month and was used to waking up to the Senator singing and dancing to the hit song Tetema “as he did to all his other girlfriends.” Hanifa was once a contestant on KTN’s Ultimate Challenge and later in Season Seven of the Slimpossible Sh.1 million prize reality show on Citizen TV in 2017.

Hanifa began fearing for her life after men she suspected were Anwar’s armed henchmen began trailing her: “I don’t want to turn dead like Sharon Otieno,” she said, claiming that her phone had been swapped and all data deleted. “It was reduced to factory settings…I fear I am being traced and had to buy another line.”

Anwar denied any threats to her life arguing “you cannot force love. I told her to move on since the relationship was not working. She was too old for me.”

But when they first met, he was all head over heels and to prove his seriousness, Anwar video called her after exchanging numbers and let it known that he was seriously shopping for a wife.

‘The first night was difficult’ she recalled without elaborating

Police mark: Sophie Mohamed once described Senator Anwar as “humble man who never boasts about anything,” and they were friends and soulmates because “we both love adventure and exposing each other to new things in life.” The affair later went south and Sophie warned women to give the politician a wide berth.

See, once she confirmed she was game during their Facebook chats, Anwar sent her money and she boarded  a train from Mombasa to Nairobi. He picked her up at the August 7 Memorial Park along Moi Avenue. She had earlier been asked “do you want us to have lunch or dinner” and since she settled for dinner then it was in order for it to be prepared at the Senator’s Nairobi home. “The first night was difficult” she recalled without elaborating.

The following day was Labour Day which they followed on television in between Anwar dancing and singing along to Rayvanny’s hit song Tetema “as he did to all his other girlfriends” said Hanifa who also had other pressing problems: She had no change of clothes hata chupi! But Anwar took care of that with an M-pesa transfer for her to go shopping with one of the drivers.

Senator’s grandfather was ‘the biggest Maasai in the world’

The spearhead: Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip is the grandson of Stanley Oloitiptip (above), former Kajiado South MP who had 13 wives and 50 children.
Oloitiptip, ‘the biggest Maasai in the world’ was famous for his keen appetite. A whole chicken was like nyama ya kuonja. The man who owned a slaughter house could clear a whole goat man-solo in one sitting.
But Oloitiptip, one-time Minister for Local Government, despite being a Class Four dropout, fell out of favour with the late President Daniel arap Moi. He  was expelled from Kanu and his two-decade political career ended with a 12-month jail term for tax evasion in  June 1984. But no prison uniform could fit him. Five inmates donated their shirts which were sewn into one, as another five donated their trousers!
But Oloitiptip could not bend during ‘kaba’ (squat) at count time in the morning. He demanded to be supplied with pillows and blankets to the amusement of fellow prisoners!

But Senator Anwar was uncomfortable with their ten year age difference. He found out she was 42, not 37. She discovered he was 32, not 34. Anwar called it quits. Hanifa was given bus fare back to Mombasa from where, symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting got her panicking after engaging in lungula without ‘taking a selfie.’

She, claims that she later learnt she was paged “and I was happy
since my daughter was 15 years and that is a big gap.” Anwar, she
says, blocked her and he argues that Hanifa was only blackmailing him
because he was a Senator and the reason she was blowing it out of
proportion. “I slipped with this one but that is life. Everybody
needs to move on.”
